Pupils are taught to sing and play musically with increasing confidence and control by playing and performing in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression. All pupils sing regularly in school assemblies and sing and play a variety of instruments in school concerts including our Leavers’ Service and Nativity. Pupils who learn an instrument privately are also encouraged to perform at our various musical occasions held in school and church throughout the year.

Pupils receive weekly music tuition during their Friday visit to Richmond Methodist School (Enrichment Friday) and have access to the County Music Service at Arkengarthdale School. This service provides tuition on various instruments either individually or in a group. These lessons take place during school hours. However, the school rotates the lessons to reduce the impact of time out of lessons.
