Sex and Relationships Education

The School has a Sex Education Policy, formed after consultation with parents, teachers and governors. This determines those areas dealt with in the general curriculum and those of a special nature. The biological aspects are dealt with mainly in the National Curriculum Science course in a gradual process through the school, while specific aspects of growth and maturity are considered in Year 6.

Parents may borrow the school video which includes the special aspects taught in Year 6. Parents are warned in advance of this teaching and do have the right to withdraw their children. Our experience is that all have found it a help to their children. Through PSHE the classes also tackle aspects of emotional development.
