School Sports Funding

The school is in receipt of a central government grant to be spent on sports coaching and improved professional development for staff. This is to lead to increased opportunities for children to participate in sport and to represent the school.

As a result, the school has bought in to an arrangement with Richmond School which secures the services of a sports coach to work with the children and provide professional development for teachers. We have also started a sports club using the facilities at Reeth Sports Club on a Thursday night. As well as sports coaching, staff are able to attend to get ideas to improve their own sports coaching.

The funding is also being used to pay for sports facility hire (Reeth Sports Ground and Richmond Swimming Pool) and to buy extra sports equipment for the school.

Because of our remote location, access to sports competitions is also challenging so some funding is being used to transport children to events.

We will monitor the effectiveness of the money we spend by tracking participation levels of children in our sports club (thirteen are regularly involved) and by ensuring that the school enters all possible sports competitions.
