Healthy school meals are available each day using locally sourced fresh produce wherever possible. There is a three weekly rolling menu (changed each term) detailing each day's main course and sweet (with fresh fruit as an alternative). Please visit the North Yorkshire County Caterers website for the current menu and more information. The current price of these meals can be obtained from the School Secretary. Lunchtimes are supervised by a midday supervisor.

Alternatively children may bring a packed lunch, but in the interests of safety, no glassware or fizzy drinks are allowed. The children who bring packed lunches take home any uneaten food as an indication to their parents of their lunch-time appetite.

New starters in the first year are looked after by the older children. This is a happy experience for everyone.

We require dinner money to be paid in advance by either using our electronic ParentPay system or by cash/cheque sent on a Monday morning. Cheques are to be made payable to NYCC Arkengarthdale School.

Free School Meals

Parents who think that they may be entitled to free school meals for their children may receive, in confidence, further details from the School Secretary. Even if you do not intend to take up free meal provision we do encourage you to make the application. It also has the additional benefit of financial assistance with music lessons and residential school visits.
